Synopsis:
 
Sookie Stackhouse is a bubbly blonde, and she mostly enjoys her job as a cocktail waitress at Merlotte's Bar in Bon Temps, Louisiana - especially now she's learned to screen her mind so she can't hear the clamour of people's thoughts all the time. Then the vampirres 'came out', Sookie met Bill Compton - Vampire Bill - and discovered that she couldn't 'hear' a word he or any other vampires thought. And life in Bon Temps has never been the same since.
 
Turns out there's more interesting folks around than just vamps - and some of them are her friends and family. It's not long before Sookie finds herself caught up in inter-species politics as the withches, vamps and werewolves all try to use her unique talents for their own goods.
 
Sokkie might look forward to a quiet life - but she's not going to get one any time soon!
